Dear Friends and Neighbours, Four years ago, you elected me to be our community's voice on the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. That vote of confidence carried with it a serious responsibility. Ottawa's public school system faced - and continues to face - unprecedented challenges. Now, in this upcoming vote for Public School Trustee, I am again asking for your support. I am proud of what we in Kitchissippi-Somerset have been able to accomplish by working together over the past four years and hope to continue our progress. Since elected, I have been active and energetic in improving communication, consultation and cooperation with parents and school councils. I have reached out to ensure the increasingly rich diversity of our community is reflected in our school activities. I have pushed hard, and successfully, to expand and enrich academic choice to attract and keep children in our public schools. And, I have worked with trustees to keep viable community schools from closing. The people of Kitchissippi-Somerset place a high value on our public education system. As your Trustee, I see the selfless work by parents, teachers and many others to ensure our public school system serves the needs of all our families. I hope to continue to work with you as our representative on the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Whether or not you have children in our schools, you have a stake in the vote for Public School Trustee. A vibrant, healthy education system strengthens and enriches every part of our community.
